my little miss/mechanic stripped it she gave a pretty cause of death. trying to fathom out what killed it.

As the engine is stripped and there is only one gone then that should not cost the earth to replace the bearing in the end of the conrod. At least then you will know you have a good engine. getting a second hand one can be a bit of a gamble as you will not know the history of it.

If you rebuild this engine. Put a new oil pump on it. Just to be sure.

If you need a oil pump the cheapest place I found was a company in Australia. Over half the price with the shipping and only came in 3 days.
