hi all about 20 miles into a journey an all mighty nasty tapping sound that increases with revs from the engine there is no drop in engine performance. i checked the cams and tappets they seem fine the sound may be coming further down. crank area. my first thought was shells but that would make the a rolling thunder noise than a knock/tap like something is hitting something its got oil in to.
any help would be great thanks
If piston speed it could be piston slap. I had this on my Ignis Sport. I sold it as a result but the new owner who I told about it is still using it daily.

it increases as i rev it is about the best i can say i checked the compression which is fine so my valves aren't bent can i work on the bottom end from under the car once i remove the gearbox i.e remove the pistons from the bottom without removing cylinder head ?? thanks all
