Hi folks,
I've bought some black modular steel wheels to replace my 3-spoke alloys and the alloy nuts don't fit the new wheels (the alloy nuts have a camber whereas the steel wheel just has a flat surface). I've had a search on here and it has been discussed before and people have recommended getting new nuts from bits4vits but I can't find them and I wonder if they've been discontinued. I haven't managed to find flat nuts anywhere and I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a good place to look?
Thanks a lot!

Also, is there any real mechanical difference between a specifically designed wheel nut and a regular nut from B&Q etc? Any reason I can't just use a regular open-ended B&Q nut? Sorry if that's a stupid question.

Suzuki use tapered wheel nuts. You'll struggle to find any non tapered I think.
They have a 12mm 1.25 pitch thread so get Googling for flat wheel nuts with that spec.
Don't be tempted to buy any old nuts. The steel is of a specific spec designed for the job.

Thanks for the reply kirkynut. This is frustrating, the wheel was advertised as being for a suzuki jimny. I see you have steel wheels on your jimny, do they have tapered holes instead of flat ones?

my old jimny had cambered nuts on steel rims
the current one has flat nuts on 5-spoke vitara alloys and they should be cambered as well, but it's perfectly fine

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

The standard steel wheels have a dirty great hole in the middle, and are kept central by the tapered nuts locating in the tapered holes.
Some alloys use a top hat style flat faced nut, because they locate tight on the central hub ring, and the nuts just keep them on.
If your wheels dont have tapered holes (seems unnusual for steel) then they must locate tight on the hub rings, or they wont run true, do they?
