Could it be that one of your so-called MATES has chucked one of those old joke shop stink bombs in there while your attention was diverted? :whistle: :whistle:

Could be more sulphur in the fuel.
Could be the battery overcharging if the alternator regulator has failed.
If it is running rich, the catalyst will overheat & melt, then you will need a new one, but the sulphur smell doesn't automatically mean a catalyst fault.
If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Facade I use super unleaded could it be that? Do I need to book it in at a garage then??

Have you changed fuel brands?
I use whatever pool petrol Tescos have at the standard pump, although I try to keep away from ethanol blends.
I'd wait for a few more suggestions before you start spending money.
