Crankshaft Pulley Failure was created by virginian
Battery warning light came on whilst cruising down to Halfords to graze for a Dab ariel. Pulled up the bonnet and watched the expansion bottle miraculously empty itself. The alternator/waterpump/fanbelt had lunched itself, almost dislodging the power steering belt whilst doing so......luckily Aldi's was open, so a 10ltr pack of water was quickly purchased. The mangled remains of the alternator belt was cut away using a cheap B&Q stanley knife, also open next door. Her indoors grabbed 2 new belts ( M13a ) from a nearby motor factors on the bus( no....Halfords didn't stock anything belt- like ) .I coaxed the jim to a nearby Ford dealer ( Towed there, I work for them  ) New belts were fitted, engine turned over, 1 belt was promply lunched......on further inspection the crankshaft pulley was found to be decidedly 2nd hand. Cranshaft pulley ordered from Suzuki  earliest delivery Tuesday...... :( Cost in parts...about £200...cost in lost street cred, unquantifiable

Managed to get a new pulley complete with new pulley bolt... :pinch: torque up settings are 150 n.m, ...have you guys with previous, got any tips to get the darn thing off. I guess an air impact tool is the first thing to get hold of....and is the bolt l/h or r/h thread? Giving it a go tomorrow

I know what you are going through I have had to replace 2 in 2 years and the 3rd one is on the way out! mine is the 06 vvt and the last time I even tried the older pulley, which is slightly smaller , meant changing the belts and even this has now failed!!! Why why why!

Normal thread. Crankshaft needs to be jammed to undo the bolt unless you have an impact driver and can get it in there! You could try taking off the bottom access plate between the engine and gearbox and using a screwdriver on the teeth to jam it. 2 man job!
