As mentioned above, there is a large flat head screw with a lock nut on it. I have adjusted mine and did the same on my SJ but you really need to be careful so as not to make it too tight. Make sure the steering is straight ahead when adjusting it and only tighten it tiny amounts at a time. Then turn the steering lock to lock and you should not feel any notchiness at all, not even the slightest.

If you have notchiness after adjusting, back it off a bit and try again.

Yes this works, my jim isn't scary to drive any more no play in steering, realy easy to do to.

Just be sure not to over tighten it.

If you lack the front axle up so both wheels are off the ground and turn them by pushing on a road wheel, you shouldn't feel any notchiness. Similarly turning lock to lock on the ground.
