Mine came on and off a couple of times so I bought a Maxiscan reader off ebay for £12, read the code and then cancelled it (cant remember the actual code but it was the throttle body) cleaned the throttle body out in 15mins and I havent seen the light since.

All thanks to the help I got from the peeps on here :)

Well worth the £12 too

A Y plate Jimny is probably not OBD2, you would need to check the diagnostic connector to see which pins are populated.

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

All the levels appear to be okay,it runs fine so can't be too bad, fingers crossed :o

absolutely, even if code light has gone out, the fault will be stored, and simply put, why should you pay dealer prices for a car only for it to produce a fault within a week.

from my experience, the C.E.L most likely offenders, are the lambda sensor, or MAF, though other issues do crop up too.

It doesn't have a MAF so its not likely to be that. Even if its OBD1 fault codes are stored but need an OBD1 tool to be read.

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

I think lambda sensors can cause check engine light. Mine used to come and go off, but didn't worry about it much. Easier to listen, feel and smell for problems. The light could be any random thing.
