Well I have managed to find the problem. Would you believe it's my my doorbell. Yes the bloody house doorbell has gone tits up and is on the same frequency as the car. Weird but true. Both cars the jimny and my celica had problems last night. The jimny would unlock but not lock and I had to operate it right beside the wind screen. My toyota would not lock or unlock with the remote.5am this morning the door bell starts ringing on its own so I give it a bash and disconnect it. Went to go and open the car for work and guess what it opens with the remote no problems. Both cars are now with fully working remotes and have good range again. So I have connected the bell back up and guess what.no remotes working again.weird or what.

A hint to improve range... raise the remote device to your head. The head has water in it (Some more than others) and acts as an amplifier/range extender
