4wd not working after replacing king pin bearings was created by beermaker
They've needed replacing for some time but my hand was forced this week after losing the back end in the wet and stuffing it into a kerb which bent the panhard rod and destroyed what was left of the bearings.
I've straightened the panhard rod and replaced all the kingpin bearings today which has completely cured the violent shaking in the steering. However, the 4wd no longer works! It was working fine up until this morning but now when I pull the lever into 4wd the light on the dash stays off and there's no reassuring clunk from the hubs.
I applied copper silicone sealant to the kingpins, the CV case and the hub caps and I'm fairly sure I got the vacuum hoses back on straight, although thats the first thing I'll be checking in the morning. Just wondering if anyone can think of anything I may have done to bugger the job up? I really don't relish the idea of stripping everything again as it was a right chuff on today!
Cheers
Phil

Check all the pipe work as they are prone to spit

Light off or light flashing? If its off then its an electrical issue

Had a quick look at the pipes by torchlight and they seem sound but will check again tomorrow in the daylight. The light is completely out, not flashing, which seems odd as I haven't touched any wiring. I just followed the instructions on here to do the bearings and seals and used a big jack to straighten the bent panhard rod. Will also investigate the wiring tomorrow too, any ideas what I should be looking for?
Cheers

Cheers for the tip, will start up tomorrow and put it in 4wd and then go for a cuppa, see what it's doing when I get back!
