You are right they are all very similar design. Most of the boys at k o v Portugal this weekend use that design which made me think that must be a good thing :-/

The KOP guys use Maxxis Trepadors, which are probably one of the most popular tyres in competition these days. Much more aggresive sidewall than the Mudzillas, and generally a more modern tyre and compound.

So let design over function decide what tyre to get ??

They're probably okay.
But why choose an old inferior design when you, for the same money can have much better tyres.

The Maxxis Mudzilla tyres have been around for ages, but no one uses them anymore.

The Mudzilla are by the way very much inspired (copied) by the Mickey Thompson Baja Claw.

I more wanted to look into them.
I'm 98% sure that a set of 235 75 15 special tracks will be on order very soon. For £410 delivered, I cant really go wrong.

I highly recommend Special Tracks. They're excellent tyres and also at a great price :)

I think special tracks are absolute crap all round, Ok they are good in mud and useless everywhere else. I went for Maxxis Bighorns and they were a massive improvement both on and off road, especially when it comes to grip on wet rock.
