Drove up from the Lake District to Aberdeenshire at 70 mph with no problem in our 07 car.

No overheating.

The Mazda MX5 has very narrow tubes in the radiator and motorway overheating is the usual sign of a radiator on the way out.

So if a new cap and thermostat does not fix it, then the radiator is the next step.
