dohc engine problem

This is pretty much the only common engine fault and is cheap and easy to fix. Regular maintenance won't prevent it and it's not caused by being dumb but it is an easy problem to drive-around until you can get it fixed. Mine does it if I drive at more than 75 mph for 10 minutes or so. I let it cool for a minute then don't go over 70 and it runs fine again. New sensor arrived in the post this morning.
If this scares you, look up some common faults with modern diesel cars and the repair costs!

I guess all we can do is make sure the maintenance is done regularly (I change my oil every 5000km), dont do anything dumb, and hope for the best....

When mine was failing I couldnt travel at anything above 55mph for any prolonged amount of time but it would sit at 50 all day long without faulting.
