Only very good alloys are lighter than steelies. Most of them are actually heavier, sometimes considerably so. Aluminium is about 1/3 the weight of stee; but is much weaker so there is an awful lot of it in a cast wheel; a steel wheel is just two thin pressings, welded together.

I concur with rogerzilla. I have factory Jimny mags and they are each over a kilo heavier than my steel Sunraysia wheels. They are some of the heaviest wheels I have ever used but I do think they contribute to the good ride on the road of my Jimny. The Sunraysia's are very strong but light and perfect for the off-road tyres I have on them plus they can take a good knock and I can easily hammer a dent out of them.

I had some Mangel alloys from a wideboy Vit and they were 50% heavier than the steels that I replaced them with. I'm not a fan of wide tyres on a Suzuki, narrower tyres seem to give better handling and steering.
Have you really got a 275 fitted or should that read 215?

If using off road stick to steel wheels, if they get hit by rocks they bend and can be bent back, whereas an alloy wheel tends to crack leaving it scrap.
