I've literally just managed to work out how to get the belt on! Put belt on bottom pulley under tensioner onto too p/a pulley as far round as you can then wedge a flat screwdriver between belt and p/a pump pulley crank engine it slips straight on

I was just reading through the thread and was going to suggest getting it on as much as you can, then crank the engine a quick turn of the key and it usually goes on the rest of the way, if not another quick turn of the starter motor.

Don't have any screwdrivers or anything wedged into it to fly out and cause damage or injury though.

One of my pulleys has a great kink in it from where I tried the "put a screwdriver under the belt and turn the engine" idea

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

+1

Just did this myself the other day. Put the belt on as far over the top of the pulley as you can with fingers, then a quick crank of the key and off again should sort it out..

Tried and tested!
