Just run a standard gearbox with 413 transfer box my axles are 4.99:1 but sits on 33s cruises happy at 50 little isuzu likes to rev and tesco doing 10 litres of veg oil for £9 at the mo so chip shop motoring even better lol

But what if running standard Jimny axles and diffs on smaller tyres? What gearbox would be suitable?

Yeah Vit engine will fit but will need gearbox and that will give you some problems fitting it as also early Vit engine is Pug to big to heavy 106 pug engine TUD5 1527 57hp 71 lb•ft can be fitted have 1 here that ive fitted to a jim box if anyone interested good engine but never came as a turbo version :(

Prob be ok with standard ratio axles they will rev all day at 4000 plus depends how fast you want to go

What VW engine is that you're talking about? Gonna start looking. Will it need a new gearbox?

Mk3 astra cavaleir early vectra some had Isuzu engines somme had GM engines Izuzu A1 GM dog shit
