ive allways been told the pd motor is a week motor and throws up expencive repairs when it goes wrong
I had a Passat tdi 110 redeye sport with the earlier ahu motor and there a cracking motor went over 230.000 miles with me and still going strong when I sold it I would have one of them if I could find a good one

kind of a VW nut myself so want to do VW engine in a jimny.. been looking at the 2.5tdi in a T4 but would have to rear mount the radiator :laugh: :laugh:

Why put in such a massively heavy engine, in a vehicle that's so light?

The 2.5's suffer with enough electrical issues in t4s let alone adding mud , water and the inevitable diy wiring connections into the mix, and as said above all that weight. If it were me I would either get a 1.9tdi out a mk3 golf (almost as much power as a 2.5 with less weight albeit with potentially the same electrical gremlins) or the 1.9td out a golf or t4. Less hp standard then a jimny but much simpler to fit and more torque which is what you want. The td's are quite easy to tune as well with a bog standard tool kit.
