On wet roads I find that any bluish light (I cycle to work, and LED headlamps of the same sort of colour are normal) gets swallowed up by the night, so I'm dubious about the benefit of HIDs anyway.
The poster with the X5 above would have had projector lenses to begin with, so HIDs would work OK.

I retro fitted projector headlamps to the x5 to over come this problem unless you had a factory xenon up grade on a pre 2003 it did not come with a projector.
However hid 4 u offer a bulb for non projected head lights and in 55W. I have not experienced xenon without a projector though.
