I was reading in another place that a cheaper way of having more hd cv is to change them to crosses .I know here r more technical people than me and would like your ideas or if anyone has tried it before

You mean universal joints, like Dana axles? Anything is possible, but you'll have to Install the entire axle not just the shafts and joints.

And as I understand it, you would need to install 2 UJs to replace one CV.

but will it be stronger than cv ? and I make a hd shaft to suit the ujs

You'll need open knuckles, to suit the U joints. Just fitting them in the jimny knucke makes little sense.

You don't need 2 U joints to replace on CV. Take a look here:


This is from a Dana 60 front axle. As you can see it's completely different to the CV joint. Which is why it is way easier to install a complete front axle with open knuckles/U-joints.

A Dana 30 front axle from a Jeep should be fairly easy to find, this also has U-joints.

tks just thinking of more options as the cv r breaking too easy just with 31' tyres
