rear shock absorber removal and refit was created by robs5230
hi, my new rear shocks are here today. any tips for removal of the old ones ? it has a 3" lift. i did order new top bolts from martin and the lower bolts are good ( mount drilled out and new bolts ).
i'm guessing the top bolts have a captive thread to screw into as i didnt get nuts with the new bolts. are the old bolts likely to break ? cheers rob

Yes, top bolts have captive nuts.
Soak, Soak and Soak again in penetrating oil. I let them soak over a number of days, refreshing the oil every few hours!

I am not sure, I have not broken any.
Also note that the bushes in the shocks will need trimming to fit. This is normal for most aftermarket shock absorbers that come with standard size bushes, a small hacksaw will sort.

cheers, just been out and under it with the penetrating oil. the bolts head is facing forward and there seems very little room for hands/tools. presumably thats right ?
