Hi - Took my Jimny on a 160 mile roundtrip on saturday. Today noticed engine cooling fan coming on straightaway when I start the engine from cold. Radiator and coolant look fine. Suspect thermostat sticking. Anybody else had similar problems? Is it difficult to replace thermostat? Gratefull for any advice. Thank You. :)

they are on a belt so run all the time

other cars only have the electric fan kick in when needed

dont worry!

As has been said, they are a viscous fan which visually appears to run all the time.

However in fact they are "loose" when cold and "stiff" when warm. This means that they are really just idling when the engine is cold and only really pushing air when it is warm.

The test for this is a rolled up page of newspaper. Stick it into the fan (carefully!) when its cold and the blades will stop, stick it in when it is warm and the paper will be chewed! BigJimny is not responsible for loss of fingers or limbs during this process.
