Yes, a soldering iron wouldn't ever get enough heat into it to melt the solder. You'll need a lot of solder!

You could use the Goodwinch solenoid put in a water proof box. Look at Martins How To guide on it. He uses a Champion Winch but the principle is the same.

I know because it says so, printed on the cables :)

Stricly you don't need to put the solenoid in any box, as it's waterproof in itself. But you may do, to keep maintenance at a minimum.

This is how my winch and solenoids are fitted. The second solenoid is fitted behind one of the motors.

You can get the cable from vehicle wiring products and the connectors too, however the connectors need a big crimping tool which is expensive to buy. I'm lucky as my father in law has the crimping tool, so I just pop over to his workshop to use it.

I crimped my cables with a brake pipe flairing tool.



On the 8th Day God made the LandRover -
On the 9th day he swapped it for a Jimny.

I must be blind I can't see that on the cable lol. That's a pretty big winch ! Is that a warn 8274 jobby or whatever there called. I will check out martins guide also cheers

On the cable is printed AWG2, which is American wire guage. It equals 35mm2 :)

Yup, it's a Warn M8274 with a Flamin Fabrications Twin motor adaptor, fitted with 2 Bowmotor 1 :)
