Ok, so maybe a daft question but because oil is leaking from my swivels, and my MOT is next month, I've ordered the Kingpin bearing kit from Martin.
Question is, where do I replace the oil that has leaked!? - the diff? - if it is the diff, can someone recommend the best stuff to use?.............. presume I just fill it until it reaches the plug?
Thanks

Yes the oil goes in the filler plug of the diff until it reaches the plug. In my opinion it is worthwhile changing the oil not just topping up as if oil has got out water may have got in, check that you can open the filler before dumping out the old oil first as they tend to be a bit stubborn. As for oil I used some GL-5 80w90 oil i got from my local newholland dealer, mainly due to price.

Unless I'm very much mistaken (and I often am tbh) the smeg that you have on your swivel joints isn't diff oil but is plain old grease that should be packed in around your king pin bearings.

Are you sure?mines been shagged for awhile and if I jack up one side I end up with a puddle of smelly smeg on the floor next to the grounded wheel, everytime.

same here although its a nice clean yet smelly puddle on the trailer bed(and a happier wife!).. bearing and seal kit ordered.. i'm not planning to change the swivel seal since it is only a dust seal and does not stop mud and water..

Worn kingpin bearings mean the drive shaft wears the inner seal. So the diff oil can come through and mix with the grease. The outer seal can't hold the oil back as it is only a dust seal and out it comes. Stinky! Remember to fit a new inner seal.
