Why not just lock the hitchlock or maybe chain the thing to the towbar with a padlock or one of those bike locks??

I'm thinking that a simple solution might be to undo the allen headed machine screws and remove the red sliders which would in turn prevent the other lever being operated.

If they want to steal it they will, all else fails they will steal the car and trailer together!

Do you think they can remove it with the weight (around 35 kg. on the ball) from your trailer on it.
Did you tried it allready yourself if it can be pulled out ?

To be honest I've not tried to remove the bar with the trailer attached. I suspect it will be more difficult!
Like others have said if someone really wants it they'll find a way, so I'm just looking to deter the casual thief.
I think I'll invest in a strongbox type lock and use that in conjunction with a chain from the trailer to the bar mount.
