I dont know about cars but one of our tractors came to the point when you had to jump on it to push the clutch pedal in, mechanic just sprayed some CRC (WD40) down the clutch cable line and it freed it up to feel like new.

will try to use some wd40 and then add some synthetic grease. i am just not sure on how to make the grease penetrate the cable.

After a new clutch plate and throw out bearing resulted in no difference except for a lower biting point, i figured out the problem: As a jimny has a cable clutch, unlike a hydraulic clutch, after a while it will clog up with dirt, and result in it sticking and grinding on the inner metal sheathing of the clutch cable housing, removing the cable at both ends and re positioning along with a full coating of white lithium grease inside the cable housing it was running smoother, faster and no longer pinging up at the last second resulting in stalling, a bit of grease on the pedal bracket as well now means i'm enjoying gear changes much like those in the fast and the furious! would recommend after serious off roading (as its prone to clogging with dirt) or as a quick service as there was a big difference for me and was a 10 minute job! enjoy!

Thanks for that. Mine is in bits awaiting a new fly wheel and clutch so I will have a look at the cable as well.

thanks for the tip. I will have my clutch cable removed and lubed with silicone grease this weekend. will spray it first with silicone oil then add some synthetic lithium grease and try it out first.

be careful with silicone oil / grease . i don't think it's for a metal to metal application. white lithium grease would be better.

standard jimny - for now
