Got myself a full rear propshaft from cam suzuki today, I can now answer my original question!!! Yes the Rear Propshaft UJ can make a loud squealing noise that is hard to tell where it's coming from. I've had all 4 wheels off checking brakes, auto hubs, wheel bearings.
It's hard to tell how bad a shape it was in whilst on the car. Once off the UJ would hardly move in one direction and the rubber boot at the other end was split.
Wasn't to bad to take off so I'd urge anyone with a similar noise to get it off the car and check it, cheers for all comments.

an easy way to find out (I know its a bit late now) - would have been to remove the prop (front or Rear) conmpletley ...
If its the front you take off then you can drive it in non-4x4 mode (rear driving)
If its the rear you take off then you can drive it in 4x4 mode (front driving)
... HTH
