Hi all, opinions welcome!

Looking to change the original Dueller 684's for something that will handle light off road (mainly slightly hilly fields on grass) and be OK in the snow. I know neither of the above are winter tyres so it will be a bit of a compromise as I don't want to faff about changing tyres every six months.

Any other tyres worth looking at from your experience?

Cheers all, Jean

General Grabbers AT are one of the most common choices. 205/75/15

www.tyretraders.com/tyreInformation%7CIt...R1597TGRABBERAT.html
(i use this supplier, their website can be very slow so bare with it)

They used to be called AT2, but the tread pattern was changed to suite the EU regs.

I have been running the AT2 for 18months now and put about 12k on them... signs of wear are minimal... and have been told they last me 40k easy!

Don't have any experience of the Grabbers but put Geolandar ATSs on my (standard) Jimny before winter and have been really pleased with them.

Pleasantly chunky-looking over the standard tyre but no more road noise than the Dueller/Enduro combo which came on the car. Over winter they were superb - tyres and 4WD was all the Jimny needed to tow an Audi A5 up a hill and out of a snow drift (just gripped and pulled!) and they got me through snow that was dragging on the diffs, which I guess is all you can ask of some mild ATs :)

More aggressive mud tyres actually don't work well in snow at all
Manly due to the huge gaps in the tread, as snow grip comes from having tread filled with snow

Yeah I believe so - I guess they come good again as it inevitably all turns to slush! To be honest as a relative 4x4 n00b I was shocked at what you can do on the standard Duellers, though I think I'd have been stuck this year without the extra depth of tread on the Geos if nothing else!

BFG At's are proper winter/snow tyres.
They have the old symbol on them www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://ww...d=0CEQQ9QEwAg&dur=94
and the siping between the chunks.
Great tyres
