well it seems to be just the one key. the other keys seems to work each time, I kept a close eye on it the last few hours . 1 key works all the time while second key doesnt.
dealer is 40 min drive away . so we know more tomorow.

Ive just suffered a similar sounding issue, first question: is the immobiliser/engine management light the one thats a picture of a car with a padlock through it? (bottom left of the dashboard) my jimny is a 2002 model with DOHC engine only done 44000 miles.
my problem occurred while driving along a main road at 60mph! was happily driving along with the misses on our way to some local green lanes when the engine suddenly spluttered, the rev counter was going crazy and the above light was flashing like mad!it was like it was starting then dying then starting and dying again, it resulted in a complete loss of power and the engine eventually cut out so i neutraled it as far as i could then pulled onto the verge. turned the ignition off sat for a minute tried to re-start it and all seemed fine, ran with no problems for another 15 miles or so.
I then had the same issue later in the evening on another journey along a main A road after around 15miles of driving at a steady 55mph or so, i did the same thing pulled over waited started the car again and resumed my journey with no issues (with police escort to ASDA). i then drove around 30-40 miles including duel carrageways, 30limits, 60mph b roads and then some green laning followed by another main road journey home with no problems at all.
Ive then spent today driving around for my business, again with no problems!
I only have one key which i think is the spare (grey in colour with no buttons or anything) I have had no previous issues and its abit concerning as its my only vehicle and need it for my business.
Did you ever get to the source of your problem?
Has anyone else got any ideas?
Dont want to fork out on sensors if its something simple.
Another thing that i think is unrelated but my electrics seem to use alot of engine power, eg if i park with the engine running no lights on or anything else like fans etc then do up both windows (electric ones) the revs drop to almost stalling point?!

That's the light but I think its unlikely to be an immobiliser issue, the immo only communicates with the ECU at key on. It sounds like you have some other electrical issue, maybe a cam or crank sensor issue.

Hi Ron, im new on the forum,i noticed that you had a problem over a year ago with your Suzuki jimny, regarding the engine management light"FLASHING resulting in the jeep not starting, you mentioned that when the light stopped the jeep started, well Iv'e had the same problem for quite a few years, ive had it checked by at a Suzuki garage,at the time they issued me with a new "KEY"but that never solved the problem,i can go a few months with no problem, and then it comes back,no need to tell you at times i'm at my "wits end not being able to sort it,Ron can you tell me if were able to sort your problem out and if you did could you confirm what it was?.

Keith.
