Forgot to update this with a pic.
Ended up cheaping out on an Amazon setup but actually really pleased with both the quality and the look.
I bought a shallow waterproof box which only needed to be tall enough to take some towels/hiking boots and fold up chairs. Drilled the bottom and used some U-bolts to affix it with rubber washers and used heat shrink over the U sections to blend in and offer a bit of protection.
It's not easily removable but I'll leave it unlocked and empty when parked.
