Headlamp adjustment?

The MOT beam check is pretty cursory in my experience.

First of all, yours will have motors for load adjustment, they are controlled by a sensor on the rear axle (differential). There are then some "proper" manual adjusters on the light housings themselves.

There was no science in the video. The laser level was simply lodged on the steel bumper next to the lights and shows me on the garage door where "level" is. Then I adjusted the light pattern just below the line.
In the picture of your headlamp unit the adjusters are the white nylon/aluminium wheels and the leveling motor is part of the adjuster bottom left. For beam height adjustment it is the manual adjuster on the motor you want to use.

I guess I need access to the MOT bay and see where the beams are on the chart. Sadly the dealership where I bought the car from a few months ago has now lost the franchise after they sold up. The new owners are not very helpful, so I will have to take it elsewhere to ensure I wont be adjusting too low.

Update...

I took it down to a local garage which has an MOT bay, in effect getting an independent opinion. The guys got out the lighting rig and the headlights lights were high. So much for a main dealer and their MOT tester! I was surprised how many turns they did to get them down to the correct marks on the rig. I'd never have turned the screw so much! Next thing, to put a mark on the garage wall/door so I have a reference point for the future!
