Then the tyres should not cause an increase in wobble -effect..
And a steering damper should not be necessary.
I have had wobble only with large and heavy tyres.

Must be some sort of play or wear that has not been found yet.

Do you have real tyres or remoulds - real tyres maybe slightly more expensive, but are easier to "balance" and will stay balanced for their lifetime, unlike "remoulds" that have pieces drop off and ruin the tyre balance.

I used to have remoulds, and no matter what i did to resolve the Death Wobble (DW) it would always be there UNTIL i bought real tyres - I currently use MAXXIS BigHorns that are 235/86/16 (yes on 16" STEEL RIMS ..no ally)

The Steering at the front of a Jimny is complicated, and a single failed or failing component will give you DW.

As i said, i have 235/85/16 BigHorns (real tyres) and as soon as the DW returns, yes it does come back, not because of the tyres but when a steering front end component wears out ... its THEN I replace everything that looks like it is also wearing out:

PanHard Bushes
Tie Rod Ends
Steering Ends
Get Wheels/Tyres checked for balance
Clean inside of Rims and any mud will cause an imbalance

I do not use Shims or a Steering Damper ... as they are just a sticking plaster on the real problem!!

Hope this helps,
Regards,
Brett

He said in the first post his tyres were balanced and later post they were not retreads wich I interpreted as the same as remoulds but not sure not being british.

I have had balancing problems with my BFG MT's and the original alloys. I had a theory that I might have broken them from driving with 0.4 bar offroad or, that they may have spun on the rims making the balancing off. (Just a tought / theory) anyways did re-balance them a few times and it helped a bit. I got vibrations at certian speeds so it was obvious the balancing was off on mine though. The balancing weights can fall off too, from offroad driving.
