This is just me letting off steam, I'm in no way impugning any person individually.
Why is it that i buy some replacement drop links locally for temeraire maybe 3 or 4 years ago because one of the factory ones was squeaky and instead of a pair of flats on the inside to hold the thread as you torque the nut they instead have an internal hex on the end of the thread, jump to now and I want to remove one side from the bar so I clean out the end and wedge an Alan key in, start undoing the nut and just as its almost cleared the nylon insert the internal hex strips and now I have to revert to extreme prejudice with an angry grinder to get it off with zero hopes of the other end being any more accommodating. What is wrong with making parts that can be undone and still be reusable? What if I want to repair instead of replace? Why isn't there an option for me as a car guy to spend more money on parts that I feel confident enough with to want to put them on a car I intend to keep forever? What is wrong with selling a quality part? Why is there this assumed idea that everything must be cheap cheaper cheapest? (Yes I know that one is profit over everything, but still). Just why? Grrrrrrr!

Some parts I buy original and some I just buy cheap. Have to be selective. bought Brembo brakes cause i thought they where good but they got warped too soon so now I just as well buy cheap.
Bearings only SKF, Koyo, FAG, NSK. Those are still good quality.
Brand names are sold and reused and production no longer in Europe but moved to china or low cost countries.
Makes it impossible to buy or find good quality,
Worked in a factory making stoves years ago and by making too good products during the 70's and 80's the customers never bought a new stove so slowly they had to make the stoves less good to sell new ones.
Now making propulsion systems we cannot compromise on quality and finding good enough sub suppliers for some parts is difficult. We make most parts ourselves.
For companies to make a living the service and maintenence income is often the most important. There is so much competition and from the usual capitalist point of view, we the customer is only price minded. So it is most easy for companies to make money by making the quality just barely good enough.
There are laws in place now in many countries that dictates a minimum life time expectancy for products but it is allmost impossible to actually catch companies that can afford good lawyers in breaking those laws.
On the other hand, if parts break (from our use and abuse) there will allways be a market for making new parts. If not, then suddenly parts would be unobtainable and we would certainly not like that.
The Suzukis was never engineered to last forever sadly
But I still like to fiddle with it and I really like how servicable it is compared to other cars.

Some aftermarket parts manufacturers like to make "improvements" to the original design that seem good at the time, but don't always work in practice.
I can see where they were going with it, I have seen the thin flats on some of those joints round off pretty easy. A good dosing of penetrating fluid on the thread in advance may have prevented it from stripping.
Technically as your drop link hasn't actually failed while it's in use I'd call that mostly successful. I had some ignition coils on my Jimny that were faulty right out of the box!
I'm not discounting your frustration at the quality of parts though!

Call me overly fussy, but when I've done these I got the exposed threads sparkling clean first. Oil, wire brush, and a die. In my opinion, the really risky part is the initial breaking free of the nut, because you're fighting a lot of torque with that hex key at that point. But from there it should be easy peasy-- if the threads are greasy.
Some who deal with this type of ball joint post will cap the exposed threads to keep off corrosion etc, but I have never seen someone do this with a Jimny.
Maybe a little more prep work on the exposed threads will make Round 2 go more smoothly? Worth a try anyway.

That's the rub, everything is covered in a nice coat of waxoyl ostensibly so I'm a little bit protected from everything being rusty but yeah I'll be running a die down the exposed thread this afternoon.
