Lambert do you run transmission cooler in old Blythe, can't you take return line off trans cooler put clear flexible tubing on return line into container rubber bung on trans then idol engine till you see bubbles stop refill repeat with clear tubing you can see fluid colour change and monitor how much fluid goes into container?

You have the ability to tweak it so that it works for you, bit of head scratching

Is the colour of the fluid something to be alarmed about?

Colour and smell yes, atf should be a nice medium red. It should not be dark nor should it smell like burned toast.

Also heard from my other local dealer and they acknowledge that there is a filter and are quite happy to take 316 quid off me whenever I want the atf changing. Expensive by my standards but probably actually cheaper in the long run than me laid on my back taking a bath in oil on my drive.
