Having followed this I still think it is very much speculation, happy to be proved wrong.

Someone in Japan produces a speculative article then eveyone starts quoting sources in Japan.

The 5 door is for the Indian market and is a Maruti design. Japan cannot make enough normal Jimnys as it is.

My own guess is that the 5 door will be made in India and may be offered to the markets that India feeds, ie. South Africa, South America.

The 3 door will remain in Japan as both normal and commercial and there will be a mild hybrid announced. There is a drop in solution for a mild hybrid from within the Suzuki range so its a bit of a no brainer to me.

All just a guess and my opinion.

I forgot to add.

The Maruti production is from Knock Down kits from Japan, therefore  I guess that as the 5 door parts will be pressed in Japan there could be some available in their domestic market.

It will be interesting to know if they can make the engine EU compliant and reintroduce the passenger version? Unfortunately I think Suzuki has more than enough demand from non EU countries to go to the trouble to develop it any further,  especially as new fossil fuel cars will be soon phased out.

What I thought was funny in the article was that the Jimny was due a "mid cycle" refresh. As the Jimmy cycle is around 20 years, wouldn't that be in 2029? Made me giggle.

Those LWB Jimny images have been around for about a year.
While it would be great if Suzuki did it, l won't hold my breath.
They would make more money by re introducing the SWB version to the U.K. where they would sell every one they imported.
And car manufacturers are about making money at the end of the day.
