Seats and other interior for a 1999 model? (My First Car)

Welcome & what a first car! Plenty to be getting on with by the looks of it!

Re: seats, Lambert pointed out Recaro from an old Ignis sport. These are quite expensive now (I got a set for £200 early 2019) but have seen them advertised for as much as £275 in places - depending on condition etc. These are essentially a straight swap onto your Jimmy frames with a 1 inch bar welded into the pivot bar to make it a bit longer. Great seats, especially if you are a bit taller. I’m 6 foot 3 ish and the original seats did seem to only come 3/4 the way up my back and the frame tends to dig into your side. If you are handy with a welder you can practically work anything into a Jimmy providing they physically fit in the space. I did know one person who had two leather land cruiser seats in there and he hooked up all the electrical seat adjustments (very fancy!).

You can get a headliner from any Jimmy I would think - they should all be the same. I am basing this off my experience with recently replacing my carpet in my 1999 Jimmy with a 2014 model. I assume your carpet might be goosed judging by the dirt in the photos, definitely worth tearing that out and putting in a new one (cost about £50 off eBay). Again, any Jimmy will do for this. Newer Jimny’s don’t have the manual shift high/low so you can just cut a little square out of the carpet (at least what I did) and it works very well, and the carpets all seem to be black in newer Jimny’s, so you can get something a bit more forgiving rather than the grey carpet the 1999 Jimny’s usually come with.

Definitely worth checking this car over for rust - I guarantee there will be some behind that front bumper. If you are going to MOT it, leave all of that plastic on otherwise they will just start picking and the list will be a mile long. You can kind of hide the front rust under the plastic trim but sills, boot floor, body mounts and rear wheel arches should be addressed for the MOT.
