They have just been fitted and I must say the car handles much better. It is much less bouncier and I have much more confidence on fast A roads. The car doesn't wobble as much when I shake it side to side and I don't need to really slow down for speed bumps.
For the people who are looking for the Jimny to handle a bit more like a road car I would certainly recommend the upgrade. It is also a bit cheaper than getting a lift kit fitted and you don't have to mess around with brake lines etc. Something tells me that any decent dampers will do the trick so you don't have to go with jimny style.

You sound like a politician, ok, so here goes: May we have the Part Numbers please and a photo of them on the car?zebraman wrote: I bought some Bilstein shock absorbers from Jimny Style without the springs as I didn't need the car to be lifted and all the insurance issues it would bring plus I don't plan to go off-road.

Yesterday I drove on an old main road (Morley Drive,WA) and the suspension was terrible, I could easily isolate the feedback from the tyres compared with the shocks, the tyres are sweet, Lhs 22psi, Rhs22.5psi, No TPMS.

If I can find a set near the Service Department this morning, I may be able to drive home with them this afternoon!

However l am always up for suggestions to improve it so would be willing to try the Bilstein dampers on the Jimny. But l am not sure what improvements l would be hoping for, perhaps the ideal would be adjustable dampers such as the 4-way adjustable ones l have on my Defender.
They can be set to soft for poor roads/off road use and progressively harder for "fast" road use if needed, which stops the Land Rover getting out of shape if it hits a pothole mid corner.
But l will say it again, l am impressed by the standard suspension on the Jimny, l wasn't expecting it to do so well on poor tarmac after reading various road tests where it was described as a "bucking bronco" on poor roads.
l would imagine it gets out of shape if you try to drive it like a GTi, but that's not going to happen with us. Although l might give it a go for a laugh and see what happens.

lightning wrote: This is interesting as l have found the suspension to be excellent on our new Jimny, the way it handles the poor road surfaces round here is remarkable considering the small size of the vehicle.

The stock setup seems to be OK, until you have replaced it with some decent shocks and coils and realise how bad it actually was.
