Jimnyz wrote: Hi Martin. Regarding your post about disabling ESC (ESP?) manually. It sounds like a good idea for gravel roads and beaches where you might be above 30km/h but don't want the Jimny to be losing momentum.
Are you referring to the OBD connector, and is it a momentary connection between pins or does it need to be held shorted?

Cheers, Mike

No NOT the ODB connector, the service connector.

Replied by Jimnyz on topic Turning the traction control off (Gen 4)
Thanks Martin. I'll find the service connector and give it a go.

ESP OFF/ON: Brief press - disable/enable stability and traction control

ESP LONG PRESS when in 4WD LOW - Turns off Hill Descent control

4WD LOW - ESP is automatically turned off.

SPEED above 30MPH - ESP turns back on automatically even if disabled.

Slight correction... ESP LONG PRESS when in 4WD LOW - Turns off Hill Hold

Apologies for borrowing the topic, again.
My weekly Resting Voltage Readings have been stable since changing the oil and are above the voltage readings taken when using a 5W30 oil.
Conclusion, thinner oil is what the motor needs and it responds accordingly! :)

Changing from a 5w/30 oil to a 5w/20 isn't going to improve battery voltage or charge levels.
