swift motor in a 99 jimny was created by cooper
Hi I own a 1999 Suzuki Jimny and found that the g13bb motor is blown and want to put a bigger motor in from a Suzuki swift in. Is it possible and what sort of problems would i encounter while doing that. And are there any other Suzuki engines that will bolt right up or need a conversion kit, i don't want to muck around with wiring and that sort of thing, i just want to keep it as simple as possible.
Cheers Cooper

G16b engine would go straight in with some donor parts from your g13b I believe. Not done it myself just a lot of reading around as it's an upgrade for the future for my 1999 Jim too. Most people get hold of one from an old grand Vitara 1.6.

None of the M-series engines fitted to later models would fit *I believe*.

Hi Cooper
It is not a straight fit no.
Adapter plate, oil pick up, engine mounts, oil pan, brackets for the generator, ac and steering pump will need work, and ignition depending on the donor motor.
Only G engines will fit and G16 needs an adapter plate.
To avoid hassle with wires a period correct engine is best. I helped a mate do a Baleno engine myself , but others will do as well.

Please see the wiki on top of the page in the menu.

Edit : hmm there is no G13 to G16 wiki. I should make one I guess.. But there is all the info needed elsewhere on the forum. If you don't find it, please ask again. :)

What about the wiring harness, does the g16b plug straight into the original wiring harness?

It is easiest to use the engine harness you already got and move sensors and injectors over from your existing engine. If you use a g16b from 1999 or around it will be less adaptations.

By the way I got a how to write up in Norwegian if that helps.. :)
I sell the adapter plates in Norway for 60 ish pounds but as we are not part of the commonwealth the international shipping from Norway is priced at the actual cost so completely out of the question to send abroad I'm afraid..
