Or install a second alternator and go electric. A second alternator also helps with winching, recharging a second battery, backup if the 1st one fails, ....

I used to have a onboard mains facility on a land rover and I never really got on with it. Those little water pumps are really no quicker than a bucket it would have to be a bigger shaft driven one to be any use. I'll keep mulling this over.

One extreme to the other. That's fine if I were needing to replace my bulk water transport system and it's also a one trick pony whereas a mini PTO could potentially have a number of attachments and uses.
