Sounds exactly like the issue I had and it was coil pack/leads that fixed it.
I really struggled to find leads that were a good fit after market. So in the end but the bullet and bought genuine Suzuki leads at circa £50! Coil pack much easier to find, bought one locally and used it to identify which actual pack was faulty.
Note I ended up with slightly wrong ones from amazon despite them saying would fit, needed vin number to get exactly what was needed. But as others have said it is an easy job to do.

If you have a set on the 1.6 it would be economical to swap those in first and confirm the fault is rectified and then when you swap the motor in get new ones for the 1.6.

Yes, in the end, tracked it down to a single faulty coil pack that was breaking down when hot. If you lived closer I would lend you a couple of spares that I now have so you could do the same!
