I bought the parts on here to do the above job and got my local independent garage do the job. They replaced the oil seal but didn't replace the ABS ring as it didn't match the one on the car. I sent an email off to Martin Lines and it seems there are two different versions of the ABS ring with different amounts and size of castellations. I figure I will have to get the matching ABS ring to the one on the other side or buy a second one to do the other side too.
There still appears to be a leak
Am I correct in assuming that both ABS rings on the rear axle must match? (otherwise it would confuse the ECU with different frequencies of signals.)
If it was some sort of sports traction control or electronic stability control then I would agree. However most Jimnys have just basic ABS which is more around whether an individual wheel is rotating or not.
If not then it releases the brake on that side until it gets a pulse.
As the ring I supplied is the current ring that superceded the old one. I would say it's fine.
