As I'm sure all the regulars are aware I'm building Ermintrude as a cafe racing, fast road, hot hatch, sleeper, thing. Part of which is going to involve submission of a Christmas list. 5x grand vitara steel wheels. Thank you Santa. Ornamental on their own without suitable tyres. Acceleration is more important than top speed so to that end I'm looking at 225/50r16, just under a 10pc reduction on the factory 205s. This affords the multiple benefit of being better for towing, accelerating and importantly it will make avoiding speeding easier being that 30mph indicated will actually be about 25 though im looking at ways to recalibrate that.
So tyres, I can still get Yokohama ad08r but they have been discontinued so any i get will have been sat on a shelf for however long ageing internally then there's the advan sport a107 but that is more of a touring tyre. The same goes for the Michelin premacy good wear but not very sticky. I have looked at the specialist track day offerings but they are too much the other way loads of grip but no longevity.
Given that many of you also have a hot car what tyre would you recommend?

wouldn't alloy wheels be better/ lighter if your looking for Acceleration?

It's a common misconception that alloys are lighter than steel wheels. Only the most expensive alloys are lighter than their steel counterparts. Most are just a style thing and often far heavier.
