No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationI have original Suzuki tow bar like this one:

And I'd change it for this one in heartbeat:
www.accessories-4x4.com/Product/98/Instance/1120/en/

With this "square type" you can fabricate lot of stuff (bike carrier, recovery point, all kinds of storage boxes or carriers) and with original you can only use it as a tow bar.

Mine are none of the above, my detachable is a witter one and the fixed is a Towtrust one i think. The fixed one was already on but I fitted the detachable myself and it was really easy.

Thanks for all your suggestions, I think I will be going for a Witter detachable. It’s double the price of a fixed tow bar, and still a big saving as I shall be fitting it myself. The other good thing is that it will only be attached when in use and no chance of getting a pull by obscuring the number plate with a fixed ball.

Never had a problem with the police with mine but the main dealer used to take the ball off at the MOT(with my permission) and I put it straight back on. Other MOT places have left it on ! If in doubt just remove the ball.
As far as flange or swan neck is concerned if you think you may tow other stuff or fit bicycle racks etc the fixed flange is better as everything just bolts on.

I started off high and worked my way down ever since :-)
