You dont need the airbag to get the radio controls working @nemesis505. The hardware is in the wheel, not the bag. But ofc it looks more neat if the steering wheel cover a.k.a the airbag is intact without something hanging out of it.
I have to EDIT my post here and clarify. I have gotten quite much DM questions about the radio controls. And I want to answer the main question publicly here so I do not have to answer separatly.
Question: "Is my stereo compatible / Can I use any stereo / How do I enable remote control in my stereo"
Answer: No! Your stereo might not be compatible with steering wheel buttons. You need a stereo with a 3.5mm remote input socket (or 2 pin remote socket). A stereo that is able to read & interpret resistive commands. Every button on the Swift wheel has a preset resistance.
f.ex VOL + = 100 ohm, VOL - = 1.08kohm.
You need a stereo that fullfills: A. 3.5mm remote input (or dedicated 2 pin remote input) B. Prorammable steeringwheel commands (key mapper).
Original Swift stereo is compatible with the Swift wheel. Other Suzuki stereos might also be, but I haven tested it.
Top of the line 2-din Stereos with 7 inch screen usually have this programmable function. I use a Kenwood series 9 Apple CarPlay Navigation unit. I chose it because it has everything I need, even some years in to the future.
