I have a 2013 model and had the same issue. The floor is not flat even when you take the seats out. Various brackets and pressing in the floor. I took out the base base of the seat and folded down the upright section. I then fitted the official Suzuki dog guard (you need the upright part of the seat when it is folded down to attach the lower guard brackets). The load area is then about 4 inches higher. My other half mafe a "filler" for this section which I can put odss and sods under, like spare dog leads. If you have a look at the post " what did you do to your Jimny today" and my post number 160254 on page 285 or thereabouts there is a picture.
If you grip one front corner of the rear seat cushion with both hands and tug upwards there is a plastic dowel that will pop out.
Do the same on the other side and the seat cushion will then come out.
The rears will then fold down.
You will never get a completely flat floor it will be "stepped" but at least if you do that you don't get the slope which results if you don't take the cushion out first.
I carry it behind the front seats and put the rear headrests under the front seats so it's always there if you want to carry passengers.
If you don't carry anyone then the rears can be unbolted to give a completely flat floor and some people make up a lining from plywood etc if carrying dogs.
I started off high and worked my way down ever since
