Removal of rear seats was created by Karen S
Hi Everyone. New to this forum but looking for some help/advice. I have a 2014 jimny bought for me to use for my dog. We thought the rear seats would lift up like the Vitara but sadly, no. I live in Hertfordshire and so need to find someone who could maybe customise mine so that they could fold forward or failing that, be removed completely to then create a flat bed. Any advice would be much appreciated as I love my car so much but my puppy is getting bigger and will soon need to go into a larger cage that won't fit on the back seat. Cheers.

Hi, long time since I took my back seats out but as I remember they did fold flat when they were in there. Most of the folks on here take out the rear seats (they just unbolt) and then use ply or whatever to make a flat liner. If you don't fancy making something yourself I think there is a commercial load liner sold somewhere. Try doing a forum search for load liner, theres been several threads I think, some with loads of pics.

Thanks for that reply. Maybe I'm doing something wrong as I can't get them to lie flat. If I could that would be my problem solved. I'll do a forum search re the flat load liner as well. Cheers.

The bottom seat pulls out I think it's the same as mine it's in one peice? but it's really hard to pull out try this first then the backs might fold down lower giving you a flat area for the pooch

On the older models the bases easily flip up and the backs fold down. On the newer ones I think you have to give the base a really firm tug to get it to un-clip then the backs can fold forward as normal.

There's some pictures and information here: How-to-completely-remove-the-rear-seats

On my 2009 Jimny you can only fold the rear seats down flat if you remove the rear seat cushion which just pulls out, I thought the newer models had a redesigned rear seat enabling them to fold flat ?
