hello all, just something that may be of interest, while browsing e bay,I came across an r72 gearbox, on auction with a reserve price of 100 pounds, and no bids.not really expecting to win I bidded 135 pounds, with a maximum of 150.only trouble was it was 250 miles away at Littlehampton in Sussex, and was collect in person only, but concidering the ridiculous prices charged by most breakers,it seemed well worth bidding for it.Anyway ,surprisingly, there were no other bidders,so for 100 pounds it was mine, plus around 30 pounds each way in petrol. To get to the pont,it was being sold by Dutton amphibious vehicles,Dutton rang a bell, they used to make a fibreglass body chassis unit for a 2 seat sports car back in the 1970s or 80s.I think it was sierra based but not sure. Anyway its the same company, but now they are making a 4wd amphibious car using their own fibreglass bodyshell with Jimny drivetrain.had a look at one while I was there, and they are a good looking car, much better looking then the old amphicar that some of you may remember from years ago.they also had a fibreglass hull being buit in the workshops while I was there,so they are still in business, and apparentky on their stand at the 2016 London boat show, they had printed 2000 leaflets, and at the end of the show they only had 18 left,so it seems there is a lot of interest in their cars, google Dutton amphibious vehicles to visit their website, and also see 2 cars crossing the English channel. They had a n almost stripped jimny bodyshell ,so there may be more parts coming up.The twin cam m13 engine was also on e bay,at 250 pounds but that seems to have gone now.Just thought this may be of interest,Phil.

well for 20,000 pounds,I think you can buy a ready made one, there doesn't seem any shortage of prospective buyers,I thought it was quite a new venture, but they have been building them for quite a while,Ihope they do well, as I think anyone going out on a limb to design and manufacture something like that deserves to do well.If I could afford it, I would have one myself, lol.

I had a Dutton Sierra for a good few years. They were Escort based 4 seaters in the MPV style. They also made a Lotus 7 style Phaeton and a Melos 2 seater sports.Wish someone would make a kit like the Dutton Sierra again.
