Does that mean you could fit one of these to the roof or wing? Looks like it would fit within roof lining.

And one of these?

No idea what a ‘built in power pass’ means. Does this need to be powered?

I bent my standard aerial but didn't snap it all the way through so I laid it back and cable tied it to the roof bars. It has been fine ever since.

It's made for home TV systems, so in that arena the power pass is important for aerials that have powered amplifiers on the roof of your house, or if it's used in a TV system with a magic eye being powered from a Sky box (for example).
So in answer to your question, no it doesn't need to be powered.

I got one of these from thunderpole tuther day
www.thunderpole.co.uk/fixed-body-mounts/...nt-kit-new-type.html
I just cut a hole in the roof lining and drilled through, I'm not that bothered about the finish sure you could do a neat job though. I use it with a standard whip now on the roof and got one of the eBay splitters, seems to work well.
I had the whip on the spare wheel carrier before but reception wasn't that great, read somewhere the car body will absorb some of the signal, seen it on other off roaders though.
Your supposed to tune the antenna too, not sure how many folks do that though.

Thanks Rex, that's what I was thinking of. There's space in the roof lining just behind the mirror that should fit in. Easy to replace if it ever breaks off then.
Hopefully one of these on top would do for radio reception?

Ha yup I bought one of them, was OK but found the longer sting antenna I had got better reception
This antenna was on the Jimny when I got it on a mag mount, its really long and can be a pain for that reason, but I like the spring in them for greenlining (though you can buy just a spring). Looks like the one I have has been tuned, I don't have a SWR meter so not tuned the small antenna myself which may explain it dunno.
My plan is to get a shorter sting antenna, maybe 1m and a cheap SWR meter from ebay, trouble is from what Ive read tuning the antenna though simple requires driving into an open space with no obstruction from buildings or trees, not so easily done where I live!
Seen loads of folks with the style of antenna your looking at though, seem to work fine, usually longer ones though, maybe .5m
