Both Avo and Trailmaster are available for similar prices (Avo from Jimnybits and Trailmaster from here) and both seem well regarded.
The car is used as a daily driver for most of the year apart from during the summer months. I do get out on local lanes occasionally and Im in and out of fields at home quite often. I could probably get away without lifting but the standard suspension is getting tired, so rather than spend money on stand height replacements, I might as well upgrade.
Has anyone experience of both or any advice on how they compare?
cheers.

Halfords dog taxi has the avos and he's able to adjust the stiffness. Have a look here on page 34

As far as I know, of those two only the Trail Master shocks are specifically made for the Jimny. Yes, the AVO's are adjustable. But that does not mean the valves inside the shock are made for the Jimny.
If you do a google search you'll find some mixed reviews of the AVO shocks in general.

The 57690 shock also fits a Toyota 4 Runner / HiLux?

Not exactly the same size and weight of vehicle?...

Only thing I woild say is that when you biy the kit with springs, the springs aren't as beefy as the trailmaster ones, nor are they they a fetching orange.
However, in my case, and I think yours, the less beefy AVO supplied springs are preferable as we have pretty standard weight truck without heavy off road kit.
Still fiddling with my dials
Currently have fronts at 8 and rears at 10, the car sticks to the road well on urban tarmac. On motorway and A class roads, 7 and 8 gives a smoother limo feel.

I was under the impression that the springs were simply the Jimnybits +2" lift although I may be wrong.
Choices, choices....
