Hello!
Does anyone know manufacturer, model or part number of the phonic wheel (speedometer sensor gear, or counter gear) for the Jimny VVT? Or simply have photos?
I am buying a programable injection controller, and the manufacturer asked me about the phonic wheel.
Thank you very much
Sandro

Like most modern ECUs its a bit more complex than a single phonic wheel.

Crank:

Cam:

VVT:

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

Thank you, Rhinoman!

You helped me a lot with those pictures! Great!

Well, I have also learned that:

There are three phonic wheels, all of them with 3 wires hall sensors close to them.

1. VSS - Vehicle Speed Sensor - a speed sensor, located in the end of the transfer case. Here, the phonic wheel is a simple speedo ring, a counter gear, with same spacing teeth. There are 25 teeth in it.

2. CKP - CranKshaft Position sensor - there is a coded teeth wheel attached in the flywheel, and it has the same speed of the engine. I dont know how many teeth, and the no teeth intervals.

3. CMP - CaMshaft Position sensor - there is a coded teeth wheel connected to the chain of the camshaft. I dont know how many teeth, and the no teeth intervals.

If anyone has photos, drafts or any information about these gears, please, tell us.

Thank you very much!

The CKP SCOPE trace that Rhinoman sent you, the pulses that are close together are at 10 degree intervals and the larger parts
where their are no pulse are 30 degree intervals.
If this confuses you I could post a clearer scope trace for you taken from my car.

See attached file, this was taken from a 1.6 vvt engine but the 1.3 is the same sensor set up.
