Hello everyone,
Please excuse me for not having a clue. I'm planning on slowly turning my jimny into an expedition-type vehicle and so the type of terrain I'm gearing towards is poorly paved/gravel roads rather than hardcore stuff. In terms of modifications the initial plan is for modular steel wheels (got), recovery points (got), all-terrain tyres and a snorkel. I don't plan on lifting the jimny at all as the standard clearance is enough for my needs and I don't want to negatively affect handling.
My question is regarding shocks/suspension components. It seems through research that long distance travelling on poor surfaces really hits the shocks hard, and I'm wondering if it would be worth upgrading the shocks? I know Jimnybits sells standard height pro-comp shocks. I'm also keen on improving road handling in any way I can.
So my questions are does anyone have any experience with these shocks or similar? How much of a difference do they make both on and off road? And if I get new shocks are there any other suspension components I should upgrade at the same time (eg springs, fittings)? I really don't know anything about this stuff so any and all advice is most welcome!
Thanks!

Koni or Bilstein shocks are the best aftermarket shocks available for the Jimny. But only standard length. There's also Trail Master.

Thanks for the reply Tom! Those shocks look great, although they seem to be a fair bit more expensive than the procomp shocks and I'm working on a bit of a budget right now.

The pro-comps are a poor fit and even the softest (1000 series) are firmer than standard.

The Monroes are a good compromise... standard length, off road specific, good value... AND designed to fit the Jimny... properly

Thanks a lot for the help guys. Dave those Monro shocks look great. Are there any fittings I need to get at the same time? And can I keep the original springs or should they be changed too? Thanks again!
